Tata Motors has broadened its Altroz lineup by presenting two new high-end variants in India: the XZ LUX and the XZ+S LUX. The XZ LUX model is priced at Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and a 360-degree camera. While the XZ+S LUX model, priced at Rs 9.65 lakh (ex-showroom), has all the features of the XZ LUX plus six airbags for enhanced safety. Both models are accessible with multiple powertrain options: petrol-manual, petrol-DCT, diesel-MT, and CNG-MT.

In addition to the new models, Tata also upgraded their top-spec XZ+ OS model of the Altroz hatchback. Newly priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated XZ+ OS model includes Tata’s iRA-connected car technology and an air purifier. These features enhance the in-car experience. This model contains more premium features such as automatic climate control, cruise control, rear AC vents, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic headlamps. Unfortunately, it does not include the leatherette seats. The XZ+ OS carries on to be offered with a petrol powertrain.

Tata Altroz: Engine and Gearbox

There are two different engines that the Tata Altroz can be powered by: the 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 87bhp and 115Nm of maximum torque. The 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine sends 89bhp and 200Nm of peak torque. When running on CNG, the petrol engine creates 77bhp and 103Nm of torque.

Since the creation of the Altroz Race, Tata has decided to no longer offer the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. This was available in the i-Turbo model of the standard Altroz. The turbo-petrol engine is now solely available in the Altroz Racer.

It produces 118bhp and 170Nm of peak torque. The Altroz Racer is completed with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, whereas the standard Altroz models are equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox.
