The former captain of the Pakistan cricket team Younis Khan has criticized Babar Azam alleging that he is self-centered and pulling down team unity. According to Younis’ statement, Babar’s behavior has discouraged the team particularly because the superstar batsman has not been able to make a fifty in the previous sixteen Test matches he played.
Speaking on note of frustration Younis said: ‘If Babar and the top players perform on the ground, the results will speak for themselves. The other day I was listening to a game commentary company saying our players talk much more than play.’
The previous captain encouraged Babar to take a lesson from India’s Virat Kohli detailing how Kohli gave up his captaincy voluntarily so that he could focus on batting. The other things we should learn from him Younis added ‘look at Virat Kohli’. He resigned willingly as captain and now he is breaking records all over the world. This implies that playing for your country should be given priority above anything else if you still have any energy left after that then play only for oneself
As Younis aptly pointed out, the selection of Babar as captain was unarguably based on his unquestionable skills compared to all other players at that moment. Moreover, he stated that there was a need for him to concentrate on keeping fit and having a strong work ethic since such chances don’t come frequently.
In other news, Virat Kohli is preparing for India’s first test match against Bangladesh which will be held at Chennai on September 19 while the second one will follow suit at Kanpur on September 27.
