New Deadline Announced for Aadhar Card Updates 

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the last date to upgrade the Udhaar card to 14 December  2024.  This extension can give numerous Udhaar cardholders an advantage to update their data on the Myudhaar portal without paying any charges. 

 The Unique Identification Authority of India has declared an extension on the deadline for upgrading the Aadhaar card details without paying any fee. Initially,  the deadline for updating the documents for the Aadhar card was September 14.  After this new deadline, if the cardholders don’t upload their documents, they are subject to paying the fee.

UIDAI has extended this new deadline to facilitate the cardholders for December 14, 2024.

Why is it Mandatory to Upgrade the Information On an Aadhaar Card?

India`s biometric-based identification system, the Aadhaar number plays a vital role as an identifier for every individual. It also assists in terminating fraud and preventing data from leakages. 

The UIDAI has advised residents to upgrade their Aadhaar documents once every ten years. Citizens can update their name, date of birth, and address through the My Aadhaar portal or at the Aadhaar enrollment center near them.  They can use documents like ration cards, voter IDs, domicile certificates, passports, and passbooks to update their data on the aadhaar portal. 

Non-resident Indians can also update their Aadhaar card details online or they can visit any Aadhaar center whenever they arrive in India.

Newborn babies can also be registered by using their supporting documents such as birth certificates and their parents` aadhaar numbers.  However, Their biometric information must be updated at the ages of 5 and 15 years.
