Lamborghini has predicted that India will have a rapid increase in the growth of its market in the coming times. The country may become one of the biggest marketplaces in Asia-Pacific. Lamborghini is a premium luxury automobile company of Italy and its projection of India’s market potential holds great significance.
A senior officer of Lamborghini has further stated that buyers in India are the youngest in comparison to other countries of the world. Due to this, there will be exponential long-term growth in the markets of the country.
The Region Director of the company, Francesco Scardaoni said that they sold about 103 units last year in India. He added that they were expecting to sell more than 150 units by 2026. In an interview with PTI, he said that as far as volume was concerned, India holds 14th position globally and sixth position in the entire Asia-Pacific.
Lamborghini sold 10,000 units globally in 2023. It sold more than 100 units in India. There was an increase in the sale of units worldwide and in India in the first six months of 2024. The sales were higher than the number of units sold in the same period during 2023.
People in China purchased 845 units from Lamborghini in 2023. Thus, China is one of the largest buyers of units from the automobile company in the region of Asia-Pacific. Japan bought 660 units and Australia bought 263 units. The other countries are Korea, which bought 434 units, and Taiwan, which ordered 131 units.
Francesco replied to a question about the extent to which India can increase its rank and position in the markets. He said that the country will take a long time to get in the top first three rankings. However, India can do it and it has the potential to achieve rapid growth as far as the middle term is concerned. Further, he said that India is exhibiting signs and indications of positive growth that let us believe that the Indian market will grow high.
Scardaoni was asked a question about when their sale in India was expected to be more than 150 units. He replied that he wished it could be achieved in 2026. He said that his company had bullish hopes for the country and India’s growing economy was the reason behind it. He also added that India’s consumers are counted as the youngest globally. Also, start-ups are growing fast and a lot of buyers come from start-ups.
The Government of India has been paying a lot of attention to the infrastructure, especially roads, in recent times. New highways are being built. The government is trying to develop roads in cities and working on projects related to roads and highways. The development of infrastructure will also help in encouraging the sales of sports cars in India.
Mostly, Lamborghini buyers in India are less than 40 years old. In contrast, the buyers of countries such as the USA and European nations are from the age group of 40-45-year-old people.
The price of Lamborghini luxury cars in India is Rs 3.8 crore and more. There is demand for cars from this brand among Indian car lovers. The automaker has orders booked for the production of cars till the next year, 2025.
