The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has officially released the provisional GATE 2026 answer key and candidate response sheets. Aspirants who appeared for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering can now evaluate their performance by logging into the GOAPS portal. This release marks a crucial step before the final results are processed.
GATE 2026 Answer Key Released at gate2026.iitg.ac.in
IIT Guwahati, the organizing institute for this year’s national-level entrance exam, has made the documents available on the official website. Along with the tentative answer keys, the institute has also uploaded the master question papers for all 30 subjects. Candidates can use these resources to cross-verify their marked responses and estimate their probable scores.
The GATE 2026 examination was conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) on February 7, 8, 14, and 15. The papers featured a mix of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions, testing the analytical depth of engineering graduates across the country.

How to Challenge the GATE 2026 Answer Key
The institute provides a transparent mechanism for candidates to contest any discrepancies found in the provisional key. If an applicant believes a specific answer provided by the authorities is incorrect, they can submit an official challenge through the GOAPS portal.
The objection window is usually open for a limited period. Candidates must provide valid documentary evidence or a clear justification for their challenge. It is important to note that a non-refundable fee of ₹500 is charged for every question challenged. If the subject experts find the objection valid, the key will be revised for all candidates; however, the fee remains non-refundable regardless of the outcome.
GATE 2026 Result Date and Final Evaluation
The evaluation process is strictly based on the final version of the answer key. After reviewing all submitted objections, the expert panel will finalize the keys. No further communication or challenges will be entertained once the final key is locked.
As per the official notification, the GATE 2026 result is scheduled to be announced on March 19, 2026. Following the result declaration, scorecards will be made available for download for qualified candidates. These scores remain valid for three years from the date of announcement and are essential for seeking admission into M.Tech programs at IITs, NITs, and for recruitment in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
