Elon Musk says Starlink will deliver 90 percent of all space-based internet traffic next year

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, has said that Starlink constitutes “the only high-bandwidth interconnected internet system covering the entire planet and may soon carry 90% of all space-based internet traffic next year”. He was reacting to a post by Mario Nawfal, who said there are around 6,290 active satellites by Starlink that are capable of providing connectivity in places where it’s unreliable or non-existent.

“Starlink is the only high-bandwidth Internet system that covers all of Earth. It will probably deliver over 90% of all space-based Internet traffic next year,” Musk wrote while replying to Nawfal’s post.

SpaceX’s satellite internet service, Starlink, faced a setback after bank accounts linked to the business were frozen by Brazil’s Supreme Court amid ongoing disputes between the business and the social media site X. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has clashed with X and labeled Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes a “dictator” while termed the action of the Brazil SC as “illegal”.

The Brazilian Supreme Court also blocked X in the country after the social media app refused to name a legal representative. According to the orders by the judge, “X shall remain blocked until all the orders in the case are complied with, including the payment of more than $3 mln in fines and naming a legal representative”. Users accessing the service over VPNs will face daily fines of 50,000 reais ($8,900 or ₹7,46,621).

Judge Alexandre de Moraes also added that X was “providing a climate of complete impunity and lawlessness in the Brazilian social networks, including for the 2024 municipal elections.”.”Elon Musk revealed his complete disregard for Brazilian sovereignty and, specially, for the Judiciary, positioning himself as a true supranational body and immune to the laws of each country.”
